A Motor Boat
Donaghadee, Co. Down.—At 11.49 on the night of the 7th of August, 1953, the police reported that eight people had left Groomsport in a motor boat at six o'clock and had been due back at 9.30. As they were still missing, the life-boat Sir Samuel Kelly put to sea in a dense fog at 12.30 early on the 8th. The life-boat made an exten- sive search in a calm sea and light breeze and eventually found the motor boat aground at the Copeland Islands.
The eight people had landed, and the life-boat took on board seven of them, leaving one man behind to take the boat back to Groomsport later. Thelife-boat arrived back at Donaghadee at 5.50.—Rewards, £13 3s..
