A Canoe

Shoreham Harbour, Sussex.—At 12.32 on the afternoon of the 18th of Sep- tember, 1953, the coastguard tele- phoned that a canoe had capsized fifty yards off the harbour, and that a man was clinging to it. Five minutes later the life-boat Rosa Woodd and Phyllis Lunn was launched in a slight sea with a light south-westerly breeze blowing.

She rescued the man, who by now had drifted about two hundred yards, and returned to her station, arriving at 1.30.—Rewards, £7 5s..
