Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.—At one o'clock on the afternoon of the 5th of August, 1952, the Clacton-on-Sea coastguard telephoned that a small sailing yacht was in difficulties about one mile west- south-west of the pier. They had had her under observation since ten o'clock that morning, and she appeared to be making no headway against the ebb tide and was taking in water each time she went about. The honorary secre- tary also received a message from the relatives of the men on board. They were worried because the men were not experienced sailors. The life-boat Sir Godfrey Baring was launched at 1.59 in a moderate sea with a light south-westerly breeze blowing. The life-boat took the Judy, which was in need of help, in tow to Brightlingsea, arriving back at her station at 6.45 that evening.—Rewards, £16 16s. Sd..
