Empress

Kilmore, Co. Wexford.—At 2.45 on the afternoon of the 16th of July, 1952, the motor mechanic reported that the fishing boat Empress, of Wexford, with a crew of three, was in difficulties about three miles east of Kilmore pier.

At three the life-boat Ann Isabella Pyemont was launched with the second coxswain in charge. In a choppy sea, with a strong south-westerly breeze blowing, she found the Empress a mile off shore five miles east-north-east of Kilmore Quay. Her engine had broken down, and the life-boat towed her in, reaching the station at 4.30.— Rewards, £11 11s..
