Susie

Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.—At 10.42 in the morning of the 28th of May, 1952, the coastguard telephoned that a yacht was in distress one and a half miles west-south-west of Clacton pier, and at 10.50 the Sir Godfrey Baring was launched. The sea was moderate, with a strong north-westerly breeze blowing. The life-boat found the motor cruiser Susie, of Maldon, with a crew of two. Her engine had broken down, her sail and mast had been blown away and she was drifting. The life-boat towed her to Brightlingsea and reached her station again at three o'clock that afternoon.—Re- wards, £12 4*. 9d..
