Whitby, Yorkshire. — At eleven in the morning of the 7th of March, 1952fishermen reported that conditions on the outer harbour bar were very dangerous for returning fishing boats, and at 11.15 the No. 1 life-boat Mary Ann Hepworth was launched, in a rough sea with a south-easterly gale blowing. She made for the Whitby Rock Buoy. The life-boat met eight local fishing boats, the Endeavour, Faith Star, Progress, Venus, Lead Us, Provider A, Pilot Me II and Success, at various times, and escorted them in separately, reaching her station again at 3.20 that afternoon.—Re- wards, £14 13s. 6d..
