New Quay, Cardiganshire.—At 9.0 in the morning of the I Oth of February, 1952, the police telephoned that a man had been missing from his home since five o'clock the previous evening and was thought to have fallen over a cliff.

Search parties had gone out but had not found him, and at ten o'clock the life-boat St. Allans was launched in a smooth sea with a light westerly breeze blowing.
