Frigate Bird

Portpatrick, Wigtownshire—At 10.47 in the morning of the 18th of February,1952, the coastguard telephoned that the local fishing boat Frigate Bird had broken down one and a half miles to the southward and at 11.12 the lifeboat Jeanie Speirs was launched.

The sea was moderate with a fresh north-north-west breeze blowing. The life-boat found the Frigate Bird, with a crew of three, four miles south of Portpatrick, towed her to the harbour and reached her station again at 12.30 that afternoon.—Rewards, £4..
