Seagull

Portpatrick, Wigtownshire. — About 9.0 in the morning, on the 10th of April, 1951, the coastguard telephoned that a motor fishing boat was in diffi- culties four miles to the south; and at 9.15 the life-boat Jeanie Speirs was launched. The sea was moderate, with a fresh northerly breeze blowing. She found the local fishing vessel Seagull with a crew of two. Her engine had broken down, but was now going again; so the life-boat escorted her to harbour and reached her station again at 10.30.
