Provider A and Lead Us

Whitby, Yorkshire.—At 12.45 on the afternoon of the 10th of April, 1951, fishermen told the coxswain that there was a heavy swell on the harbour bar, and the fishing vessels Provider A and Lead Us could be seen making for Whitby. At 1.10 the No. 1 life-boat Mary Ann Hepworth was launched in a rough sea with a northerly gale blow- ing; and flares were burned from the outer harbour to warn the fishing vessels. The life-boat then escorted them in and reached her station again at 3.10.—Rewards, £7 12*..
