Ludwig

Amble, Northumberland.—About 9.55 on the night of the 1st of May, 1951, the coastguard telephoned that a vessel had fired a rocket east of the Coquet lightvessel. At 10.15 the life- boat J. W. Archer was launched. There was a slight swell with a light south- westerly breeze blowing. She found the motor vessel Ludwig, of Germany, wanting a pilot, so escorted her to an anchorage near the harbour. She then returned to her station, arriving at midnight.—Rewards, £5 5*..
