Laurel

St. Abbs, Berwickshire.—During the morning of the 2nd of May, 1951, anxiety was felt for the safety of the local motor fishing boat Laurel, overdue with a crew of four in bad weather; so at 11.15 the life-boat J. B. Couper of Glasgow was launched. The sea was rough with a fresh easterly breeze blowing. She came up with the Laurel one mile north of St. Abbs Head.

The Laurel's engine had broken down twice and she was making heavy weather, so the life-boat escorted her to St. Abbs and reached her station again at 12.15 that afternoon.—Re- wards, £5 17s..
