DURING the past few months, the Life- boat Service has been represented at three different exhibitions. From December 26th-31st, 1950, there was a scientific exhibition at the Imperial College, South Kensington, organised by Crosby Hall (the Association of University Women). A complete sec- tion was devoted to the Life-boat Service, where there were on display several cut-out models of modern life- boats, large photographs of life-boats and coxswains, and a comprehensive selection of life-boat equipment: a Kadenacy engine, for the light 35-feet 6-inches types of life-boat, a search- light, a line-throwing pistol and a compass; a mortar, relieving scuppers, a drogue, pairs of ventilators and a capsizing switch; a masthead signalling lamp, port and starboard lights, a shrouded propeller, and a 12-volt battery.

In January this year, Vice-Admiral Sir Percy Noble opened an exhibition of water transport at Tunbridge Wells Museum. The Institution showed, once more, some cut-out models and photographs of modern life-boats, and several pieces of life-boat equipment, which were much ap- preciated and admired by all who attended.

On the 18th of May, the Model Engineering Clubs of Eastbourne held an exhibition at the Dorchester Res- taurant in Eastbourne; and here there was a model lent by the Institution of a 46-feet 9-inches Watson Cabin life- boat..
