Marie Leach
Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. — At 7.45 on the night of the 13th of December, 1950, the coastguard telephoned that a vessel was burning flares about one and a half miles north-east of the coast- guard station. At 8.0 the life-boat John Russell, on temporary duty at the station was launched. There was a heavy swell with a light south-westerly breeze blowing. She found the motor vessel Marie Leach, of Brighton, threemiles to the north-east, broken down, with a crew of four. She had been in tow of a trawler, but the trawler had torn out her bollards. At the request of her skipper the life-boat towed the Marie Leach to harbour, reaching her station again at 10.0 that night.— Property Salvage Case..
