Marda

Holyhead, Anglesey.—At 10.7 on the night of the 25th of September, 1950, the coastguard telephoned that a yacht had fired a red Vercy light off Trinity Depot. At 10.30 the life-boat St. Cybi, Civil Sen'ice No. 9 was launched on service for the first time. The sea was very rough, with a whole gale blowing from the north. She found the yacht Marda, of Beaumaris, off Newry Beach, rolling heavily, with one man on board.

The life-boat rescued this man and returned to her station, arriving at 11.15. The Marda eventually fetched up broadside on to the beach.—Rewards £81*..
