The Owers Lightvessel

Selsey, Sussex.—At 10.55 on the night of the 17th of July, 1950, the coast- guard received a message from the .Superintendent, Trinity House, Cowes, that the master of the Owers light- vessel was ill with suspected appendi- citis. At 11.25 the life-boat Canadian Pacific was launched in a moderate sea and southerly breeze, with a doctor aboard. He examined the master and decided to bring him ashore. An ambulance was waiting and he was taken to the West Sussex Hospital.
