Douglas, Isle of Man.—At eleven o'clock on the morning of the 20th of August, 1950, the life-boat Elsie, on temporary duty at the station, was launched to help the motor yacht Barra- cuda, of Belfast. With a crew of four aboard, shs had been driven on to the rocks near the life-boathouse in Douglas Harbour. The sea was rough with a fresh south-easterly breeze; the yacht was badly holed and sinking. How- ever, they got her off the rocks, and the life-boatmen went on baling until high tide. Then they were able to beach her. The life-boat reached her station again at 3.10 in the afternoon.
