A Motor Boat and a Sailing Dinghy
Swanage, Dorset.—At 6.5 in the evening, on the 29th of August, 1950, the coastguard telephoned a message from the St. Albans Head coastguard that a motor boat was two miles south- west by west of the Head. There was no sign of life in her, but it was thought that someone might have fallen over- board or be in the bottom. At 6.10, the life-boat R.L.P. was launched in a rough sea with a west-south-west breeze blowing. She found the boat empty, and took her in tow. Then she noticed an upturned sailing dinghy, righted her and towed both boats to Swanage Bay, reaching her station again at 8.15.—Property Salvage Case..
