Ruby

Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.—At 2.15 in the afternoon on the llth of March, 1950, the coastguard telephoned that a small vessel was showing a distresssignal two miles east of Collieston. At 2.30 the life-boat Julia Park Barry, of Glasgow, was launched in a rough sea with a westerly gale and snow. She found the motor fishing boat Ruby, of Collieston, two and a half miles east- south-east of Collieston with one man on board. Her engine had broken down; and the man was suffering from exposure and drenched through baling.

The life-boatmen gave him rum, and the life-boat towed the Ruby to Col- lieston, reaching her station again at 6.30.—Rewards, £14 7s. Od..
