A Rowing Boat

Cullercoats, Northumberland.—-At 4.45 in the afternoon of the 19th of March, 1950, the Tynemouth coast- guard telephoned that two men ap- peared to be in difficulties in a rowing boat two and a half miles to the east- ward. At 4.50 the life-boat West- morland was launched. The sea was choppy with a strong breeze blowing from the south-west. She rescued the men and towed the boat back to her station, arriving at 5.38.—Rewards, £16 5s..
