The S.S. Ribblebank

Fleetwood, Lancashire.—At 10.30 in the morning on the 10th of February, 1950, the harbour authorities reportedthat the s.s. Ribblebank, of Liverpool, was on the Lighthouse bank. Later she was reported to be loaded with 400 tons of calcium carbide. At 12.50 in the afternoon, therefore, the life-boat Ann Letitia Russell was launched.

There was a heavy ground swell with a strong west-south-west breeze. The life-boat stood by the steamer until she refloated under her own power, and then escorted her to harbour, reaching her station again at 2.5. The owners expressed their appreciation and made a gift to the Institution.— Rewards, £10 11s..
