The Gardens of Sheffield Park

FOR many years before the war the famous gardens of Sheffield Park, in Sussex, were opened to the public and the entrance money given to charity.

In 1949, for the first time since the war, they were again opened, for five weeks in the spring for the flowering shrubs, and for seven weeks in the autumn for the leaf colours, and the owner of Sheffield Park, Captain A. Granville Soames, O.B.E., who was for a number of years a member of the committee of management of the Institution very kindly gave the proceeds to the Life- boat Service..
