THE portrait on the cover is of Cox- swain Thomas Henry Hutchinson, of Bridlington. He has been an officer of the life-boat for 30 years, serving as bowman from 1919 to 1925, second coxswain from 1925 to 1938 and cox- swain from 1938 to 1949, when he retired.

In those thirty years he took part in the rescue of 63 lives..
