Godetia

Wick, Caithness-shire.—At five o'clock in the afternoon, on the 4th of Novem- ber, 1949, the coastguard reported a flare three miles north-north-east of Wick. Half an hour later the life-boat City of Edinburgh was launched in a rough sea, with a strong south-easterly breeze blowing, and found the local fishing boat Godetia. She had a crew of five aboard, including the life-boat second coxswain. She had been dis- abled by an engine breakdown, and although she had a sail, could make no headway against the tide, and so the life-boat towed her home, arriving at 7.80.—Rewards, £8 13s..
