A Rowing Boat

Newhaven, Sussex. — At half past eleven on the morning of the 6th of November, 1949, the life-boat Cecil and Lilian Philpott was launched for exer- cise. There was a choppy sea, with an easterly breeze blowing. As she was returning, she noticed a small rowing l)oat half a mile west of Newhaven Breakwater. The crew appeared to be distressed, and the life-boat closed to investigate. She found two men, who had been angling but were afterwards too exhausted to continue their efforts to reach harbour. The life-boat took the small boat in tow and brought her, together with the crew, into harbour, reaching there at half past twelve.—• Rewards, £9 11s..
