JUST before Christmas a packet was brought to the Institution by an official of the Post Office, who wished to be certain that it was intended for the Institution. It had the Oxford post- mark and was addressed "To life-boat Headquarters." Inside was a paper bag with "Happy Christmas from an old lady and Bright New Year" written on it, and fifty one-pound notes.
