Tansy

Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. — At 8.30 in the morning of the 22nd of June, 1949, the coastguard telephoned that a vessel was blowing her siren and be- lieved to be on the Geddle Weirs Rocks.

A later message said that she had sig- nalled for help. At 9.10 the life-boat Julia Park Barry, of Glasgow, was launched. A light northerly breeze was blowing, with a ground swell, and there was a dense fog. The life-boat found the local steam drifter Tansy, with a crew of ten, two miles to the northward. She had been aground and had lost her propeller. The life-boat towed her to the harbour, arriving at 10.15.—Property Salvage Case..
