Galway Bay.—At 2.30 in the morn- ing of the 18th of August, 1949, the local doctor asked for the life-boat to take to the mainland a boy who was on holiday in Kilronan, had fallen ill, and must be operated on immediately. No other boat was available, and at 3.30 the life-boat K.E.C.F. left her moorings in a westerly breeze with a calm sea and fog. She took the boy to Costello and reached her station again at 7.40 that morning/—Rewards, £9 18s. 6d..
