Cormorant

Soutbend-on-Sea, Essex.—At 9.20 on the night of the 7th of June, 1949, a message was received from the police station that two men were clinging to a yacht which had capsized three-quarters of a mile oft Chalkwell Bay, Westcliff, and the life-boat Greater London, Civil Service No. 3 was launched at 9.35. A strong south-westerly wind was blowing, with a choppy sea. The life-boat found the sailing yacht Cormorant, of West- cliff, but her crew of two had been res- cued by a boat from the yacht club.

She towed the yacht to Southend, arriving at 10.30 that night.—Re- wards, £7 12s..
