Amble, Northumberland.—The life- boat Frederick and Emma was launched at one o'clock in the afternoon of the 15th of March, 1949, in a north- westerly gale with a heavy sea, to the help of the local fishing boat Ocean Vanguard, which was waiting outside the harbour where dangerous seas were breaking.
