A Rowing Boat
Bembridge, Isle of Wight.—At 2.25 in the afternoon of the 25th of April, 1949, information was ree«ived that the lightkeeper of the St. Helen's Fort was drifting seawards in a rowing boat, and at 2.45 the life-boat Jesse Lumb was launched in a light, squally north- westerly breeze, with a slight sea. She found the boat one mile north-east of the coastguard station, rescued the man, who was exhausted, and towed his boat back to the fort. She reached her station again at 3.48.—Rewards, £7 2s.
