Good Cheer

Scaiborough, Yorkshire.—At 6.44 in the evening of the 5th of December, 1948, the coastguard telephoned that flares could be seen one mile north by east of Burniston, and the motor life- boat Herbert Joy II was lauriched at 6.55. The southerly breeze was mod- erate, but a rough sea was running.

The Hfe-boat found the local fishing coble Good Cheer one mile north-east of Burniston with her engine broken down. She had been at sea for sixteen hours and her crew of three were ex- hausted. The life-boat took her in tow and arrived back at her station at 9 o'clock.—Rewards, £14 14,9. 6d..
