Glebe

Weymouth, Dorset.—At 9.30 on the night of the 2nd of October, 1948, the local sailing club telephoned that the club secretary had gone out for a sail at 4 o'clock that afternoon in his yacht Glebe, but had not been seen since, and at 9.45 the motor life-boat Hearts of Oak, on temporary duty at the station, was launched. The sea was smooth, with a slight breeze, but there was fog.

Using her searchlight, the life-boat searched widely, but found nothing, and returned to her station at 12.30 the next morning. At 6.30 she again put out, and this time found the Glebe off Mupe Rocks, Lulworth, and towed her to Weymouth, arriving back at her station at 10.30.—Rewards, £19 4s..
