Coverack, Cornwall.—At 5.25 in the evening of the 22nd of August, 1948, the coastguard telephoned that the police had reported a little girl cut off by the tide in Coverack Bay. A small boat went out but failed to find her.
A further message was received from the police at 6.5 that the girl was still in danger, and at 6.18 the motor life- boat The Three Sisters was launched.
A fresh westerly breeze was blowing with a ground swell. The life-boat found the girl, aged ten, at White Sands.
By skilful manoeuvring she was able to rescue her, and got back to her station again at a quarter past seven.
