Easting

Clovelly, Devon. — At 9.14 in the morning of the 13th of August, 1948, the Lundy and Hartland coastguards reported a yacht to the south-east of Lundy Island which appeared to be in difficulties, and the motor life-boat City of Nottingham was launched at half past nine. A strong north-north- east breeze was blowing and the sea was rough. Two miles south-east of Lundy the life-boat found the motor yacht Easting, of Plymouth, with only her owner on board. She was without sails, her engine and steering gear had broken down, and she was making water. The life-boat towed her to Appledore, returning to her station at 10.10 that night.—Property Salvage Case..
