The Bravest Life-Boat Deed of 1947

TilE annual award for the bravest lifeboat deed of 1947, known as the "Miss Maud Smith's reward for courage,, in memory of John, 7th Earl of Hardwicke," has been made to Coxswain Edwin F. Madron,' of Penlee, for the rescue on the 23rd of April of eight men adrift from her tugs while on her way to the shipbreaker's yard and gone ashore.
