A Rowing Boat

MEN AND CHILDREN ON THE ROCKS Port Erin, Isle of Man.—At 10.35 on the night of the 29th of August, 1947, it was reported that a rowing boat, which had left at 6.30 with two men and two children on board, had not returned, and later a message came from the Cregneish wireless station that a rowing boat had been seen at 9.30 near Chicken Rock Lighthouse, but had been lost to sight in the dusk. At 11.25 the motor life-boat Matthew Simpson was launched in calm weather, searched for the boat and found the two men and two children ashore on the rocks of Calf Island. She took them on board and, with their boat in tow, arrived back at her station at 2.45 the following morning.—Rewards, £11 Ss..
