The Humber, Yorkshire.—At 8.45 P.M. on the 22nd September, 1939, the signal station reported that red flares had been seen in an easterly direction. A fresh northerly wind was blowing, with a very rough sea. At 8.48 P.M. the motor life-boat City of Bradford II was launched. The steam trawler Kopenes, of Grimsby, was found aground on the Middle Binks, with a broken propeller. Signals were made to the shore for a tug, and the life-boat stood by until she arrived.

The tug took the trawler in tow, and the life-boat escorted her into safety, returning to her station at 12.40 A.M.—- Paid permanent crew: Rewards, 12s..
