Doric

Lynmoutb, Devon.—At about 7.30 P.M. on the 13th July, 1939, a motor yacht was seen flying a distress signal.

A squally southerly wind was blowing, with a choppy sea. The pulling and sailing life-boat Prichard Frederick Gainer was launched at 7.50 P.M. She found the motor yacht Doric, of Uptonon- Severn, a quarter of a mile off Lynmouth beach, with a crew of three on board. One of her engines had broken down and the dinghy that she was towing had been swamped. A life-boatman was put on board her and her engine was started. The life-boat then escorted her into Lynmouth and returned to her station at 8.45 P.M.

The owner of the Doric, who was 021 board her, has made a donation to the Institution's funds.—Rewards, £30 14s..
