The Hauxley Launchers

This was the last exercise launch of the pulling and sailing life-boat Mary Andrew, before the station was temporarily closed on 17th January, 1939, when the Amble station was reopened, as an experiment, with a motor life-boat. Hauxley will be permanently closed if this experiment is a success. The Hauxley station was established in 1852, when the Amble station was closed.

Its life-boats have been launched on service 81 times and have rescued 246 lives..
