Hoylake, Cheshire.—At about 6.40 P.M. on the 4th December, 1938, the coastguard reported that flares of distress had been seen to the N.W.
A light westerly wind was blowing, with a moderate swell. The motor life-boat Oldham was launched at 7.7 P.M. and found the fishing boat Lily, of Liverpool, stranded and water-logged, about one and a half miles from the boat-house. She rescued the crew of three and got back to her station at 9.20 P.M.—Rewards, £25 19s. Qd..
