Gourdon, Kincardineshire.—Early in the morning of the 23rd November, 1938, the Gourdon fishing fleet put out to sea in fair conditions of weather.

At 7.45 a strong E.S.E. breeze sprang up, increasing later to gale force and bringing with it a rough sea with heavy rain. The motor life-boat Margaret Dawson was launched at 12.20 P.M. and stood by at the harbour entrance until all the boats had got in safely.
