Southend-on-Sea, Essex.—At about 1 P.M. on the 19th November, 1938, information was received from the R.N. Shore Signal Station that a motor yacht was in distress, bearing south, midway between Southend pierhead and Sheerness. A light S.W. wind was blowing and the sea was smooth.

The motor life-boat Greater London(Civil Service No. 3) was launched at 1.25 P.M. She found the motor yacht Dawn, of Southend, with her engine broken down. Two men and a woman were on board. The life-boat took the Dawn in tow and brought her to Southend Pier at 2.30 P.M. The owner made a donation to the funds of the Institution.—Rewards, £10 16,9..
