Cantabria

Cromer, and Great Yarmouth and Gorleston, Norfolk.—On the 2nd November, 1938, the Cromer life-boat rescued five from the Spanish steamer Cantabria, which was slowly sinking after being shelled by an armed auxiliary cruiser flying the flag of the Spanish insurgents.

Eleven of the Cantabria's crew were picked up by the steamer Pattersonian and were landed by the Great Yarmouth and Gorleston motor life-boat.— Rewards : Cromer, A letter of appreciation to the coxswain and crew and £26 4s. 6d.; Great Yarmouth and Gorleston, £25 4s.
