Troon, Ayrshire.—On the morning of the 27th March, 1938, a report was received from Irvine harbour that a fishing boat in Irvine bay was flying signals of distress. A strong N.W.
breeze was blowing, with a rough sea.
The motor life-boat Sir David Richmond of Glasgow was launched at 8.30 A.M., and found the Glasgow motor fishing boat Consort in distress, with her engine broken down, about two miles south of Irvine bar. She carried a crew of three, and was bound in ballast from Irvine to Colonsay. The life-boat towed her into Irvine harbour, and returned to her station at 10.15 A.M.— Rewards, £6 175. 6d..
