Hagar
Barrow, Lancashire.—On the afternoon of the 17th February, 1938, the coastguard reported that a small boat was adrift abreast of Hilpsford Buoy, but that it was impossible to say if there was anyone on board. A N.E.
breeze was blowing, with a rough sea.
It was decided to send out the motor life-boat N.T. and she left at 3.5 P.M.
and picked up the empty boat Hagar, four miles N.W. of the buoy. Two life-boatmen were put aboard and the boat was towed to safety. The life-boat got back to her station at 5,45 P.M.
The owner of the boat had left her while gathering mussels, but had been unable to get aboard her again. He had left her aground, intending to recover her later, but she had drifted away.—• Rewards, £12..
