Strathavon, of Scarborough

Aberdeen.—Early on the morning of the 13th August the coastguard reported that a vessel was ashore at or near Portlethen. A gentle southerlybreeze was blowing, with a moderate sea and thick fog. The reserve motor life-boat J. & W., which was on temporary duty at the station, was launched at 3.20 A.M., and found the steam trawler Strathavon, of Scarborough, aground near Portlethen Point. The Strathavon had a crew of nine on board, and was bound for Aberdeen from the fishing grounds.

The life-boat ran out the trawler's anchor, and the trawler was able to haul herself clear. Both vessels then made for Aberdeen, and the life-boat arrived back at her station at 8 A.M.
