The Motor Fishing Coble Sonny

Seaham, Co. Durham.—At about 3 p.m. on the 17th November the motor fishing coble Sonny was seen to be flying distress signals three miles to the south of the harbour. The weather was very cold, with a N.E. gale and heavy sea.

At 3.15 p.m. the motor life-boat Elliot Galer put out, and got alongside the coble at about 4 p.m. She found that her engine had broken down and that she was shipping water. The life-boat took her crew of four on board and took the coble in tow, but the weather was so bad that she broke adrift and was lost.

The life-boat returned to harbour at 5.30 P.M.—Rewards, £7 9s. Sd..
