Arbroath, Angus.—At midday on the 17th December a S.E. gale was blowing, with a rough sea and heavy rain. The local fishing boats Sceptre, Our Boys, Golden Rule, Breadwinner and Helen Cargill were expected in, and as the harbour bar was very dangerous, the motor life-boat John and William Mudie was launched.
