Woodpecker

Southwold, Suffolk.—On the afternoon of the 4th September the sailing yacht Woodpecker was seen bound northwards.

A S.W. breeze was blowing, with rain squalls. The yacht was flying a flag from the crosstrees and as she appeared to be in need of help, the motor life-boat Mary Scott was launched at 5 P.M. The life-boat found that the Woodpecker, with a crew of three, wasbound for Harwich from Flushing. At the request of the crew of the yacht the life-boat placed a pilot aboard, and then escorted the yacht to Lowestoft. The life-boat reached her station again at 10.15 P.M. The owner made a donation to thelnstitution.—Rewards,£22 2s. 6d..
